On October 9, 2024, Dr. Saca Faruq Abdullah, Head of UNICEF Azerbaijan, along with Deputy Ana Dautovic, Head of the Child Protection Department Vüqar Salmanov, and others, visited the social service centers of the “Hopeful Future” Social Initiatives Public Union (Azerbaijan Child Helpline service, Juvenile Justice Center, Social Rehabilitation Center for Children and Youth Victims of Violence).
During the visit, Kamala Ashumova, Executive Director of the “Hopeful Future” Social Initiatives Public Union, provided information about the operational areas of the social service centers, the organization's contributions to child rights protection, activities carried out both locally and internationally, as well as future goals.
Additionally, discussions were held on future collaboration opportunities for strengthening outreach to a larger population, the direct services provided by the Child Helpline to children and families, the steps taken by the Juvenile Justice Center for the rehabilitation of children in conflict with the law, the reintegration process of these children into society, and the close cooperation with government bodies and their positive contributions to the organization’s work.
The discussions also addressed key issues such as the protection of children’s rights, the implementation of child-centered approaches, and the sustainability of activities in this area. The meeting concluded with suggestions on strengthening joint cooperation, expanding the organization’s service areas, taking comprehensive approaches to address children's issues quickly and efficiently, and developing staff for future actions.
